Jessica Chastain showed up at the New York Film Critic's gala the other night, looking like the lovely little Irish clover that she is. Actually I don't know if she's Irish, but she certainly looks like someone with all the hallmarks of the legendary Hibernian peoples, what with that red hair and the creamy white, freckled skin. No big secret that I have a particular fondness for the ladies like Jessica. Perhaps that's my own Irish heritage at work, hearkening me back to my ancestral origins in the land of shamrocks and shillelaghs. All I can say is that she's got something special happening. She even made the rather perplexing TREE OF LIFE watchable, in parts anyway. I'll stop short of calling that a bad film, as I did miss a lot of it from falling asleep during those prolonged dialogueless scenes. Maybe something good happened in between the badly-rendered dinosaurs and the afterlife scenes. I'll never know. Jessica looked great in it though.
