There's nothing more all-American than a former preacher's daughter making it big in the pop music world singing about kissing girls. And there's nothing cuter than watching Katy Perry
get a smooch planted on her by a serviceman (heh heh heh... service... man... heh heh) while she performed at the opening of Fleet Week in New York City. The annual tradition of welcoming sailors, marines and coast guardsman has been going on for 200 proud years straight... and with this being the first year with Don't Ask, Don't Tell repealed, the pride is spilling over into the deals the city is offering to these uniformed heroes. OUT NYC, the very first "gay hotel" is promoting Fleet Week by offering steep discounts to the servicemen and women as well as free "Served With Pride" t-shirts and tank-tops but they're going a step further than other businesses which limit their promotions to the Memorial Weekend and offering this as a benefit indefinitely. Now if we could only get Katy to do a few things indefinitely, I think we'd all be a much more peaceful nation for it.
