Oh boy. You guys are probably going to hate me for this post. Sure, it's got to do with the movie ANNA KARENINA and its star, Keira Knightley. Sure, I understand that most of you think that she's better than the invention of toast. But I need to admit that while she was in the POTC series, I didn't watch those movies because of or for her. The last thing I remember going to see and being excited about was DOMINO, mainly because it was based on a true story that I had followed as it was history in the happening and wondered what Keira would do with the role. Here's my gripe(s): She's too f*cking skinny. She never smiles. Why is it that people dog on Kristen Stewart for not being a big smiler and yet Keira shows up with the pouty puss on every red carpet and it's written off as being the dignified way that a Brit would walk a carpet? STFU. You know which other UK ladies walk the carpet? Ones like Jodie Marsh. Exactly the picture of grace and elegance, right? So that debate is in the trash.
Keira also keeps taking the same type of stinking roles over and over and over again. She might not have played Bella Swan for 5 movies but what's the difference when you have similar melodramatic crap like THE DUCHESS, ATONEMENT, PRIDE & PREJUDICE and now ANNA KARENINA? Don't even get me started on the overacting she did in A DANGEROUS METHOD, probably one of the only movies that caused me to want to break my television into a billion pieces as I stumbled through its stuffy weight just to try and squeeze a bit of enjoyment out of watching Fassbender and Viggo. Oh... My... Hell... she was BAD in that. Atrocious. Obnoxious. Annoying. Thinking about it makes me want to chuck a thesaurus at my computer screen right now.
I haven't watched every last thing that Knightley has been in and because of the trajectory that her career has taken over the years, that can be attributed mainly to the fact that I cringe when I see her cast in a film. Love her all you want, but she's a dour, sour-pussed, one-trick pony. To put some icing on this opinionated cake: I'd much rather make the time to watch ANY KStew movie over a KKnightley one. How's that for a TGIF?
