Krupa For PETA

Dec. 3, 2009by: Cherry Liquor
OK, so there's this magazine where if you really want to see Joanna Krupa nude, you can. It's called Playboy and it's bringing you the real deal. However, since they like to use naked celebrities to push their anti-yummy-animals-aren't-meant-to-be-eaten agenda on the world, PETA has brought out an ad with the model claiming that it's her topless advertisement for them. I might take the organization a little more seriously if it wasn't projecting that it was against the exploitation of nature's gifts if it wasn't exploiting nature's gifts to do so. Is it just me, or doesn't it take some red meat to have a sense of humour?

Extra Tidbit: I firmly believe in pet adoption, but for the record, it cost a great deal to adopt my cat from the rescue foundation (to cover the cost of their fostering, food & medical), so in a sense... isn't current pet adoption still BUYING a pet?

There is a magazine and a place for that kinda advertising. I don't care if you think I'm a fuddy duddy, but for God's sake, I'd rather see something more distressful than try-hard-air-brush erotic for campaigns such as these.

I'm not going to talk about PETA's agenda but seriously, this is demeaning in more ways than one. I'm not a moral policeman or whatever but what's the use of preaching human morals when you exploit something to sell your product. "Save the animals...and get a hard-on while doing so by seeing Joanna Kupra hold a cross to cover only her most private her lady parts." Hypocrisy is crazy.

I agree that adoption is the best route to go for a pet (though isn't PETA against owning animals at all? I thought they wanted them all to run free). But this constant use of nudity (which I enjoy) to push their agenda is the weakest form of advertising. Whenever an organization uses nudity or children to "sell" their product/idea, you know they have little faith in it.

ridiculous

No it doesn't take red meat to have a sense of humor, or to get protien, or to get iron or any of the other lies the beef-it's-whats-for-dinner folks want you to believe.

The defensiveness by meat eaters against PETA and other animal organizations is really disheartening to me. People want to make this out to be hypocrisy or exploitation or anything that puts PETA in a negative light, because no one wants to take a long hard look at how thier own choices affect animals, the environment,

PETA uses nude celebrity advertising because...wait for it...IT WORKS. We are talking about them aren't we?

Look I love the taste of meat and cheese, and ate it most of my life...but facts are facts. LOOK THEM UP. PETA is correct in 90% of what they say. I don't always agree with them, I think sometimes they really miss the boat (the Obama fly situation for example). But they do FAR more harm than good, and most of the people who love to hate them are really just uninformed and defensive.

Maybe if you hate PETA so much you would be willing to take a look at Farm Sanctuary [link]. Same facts, less sensationalism, and really nothing to hang your defensive hats on there. Educate yourself and THEN make your decision.

I think you mean they do more good than harm. You made a really good point and I must agree with you. It is just so hard to give up meat when it tastes so good.

PETA does do some good for animals. They also put thousands to death every year, which they neglect to talk about. They make themselves look ridiculous to a lot of people by using ads like this and having a fit about the President killing a fly among other things.

I just stated that they put animals to death. Which is true. I didn't mention anything about animal rights being a subterfuge to get their hands on animals so don't put words in my mouth. Reply to what was written, not words that I didn't type, but that you assume. Foolish. Heed your own advise about the common sense. Behaving like that is why many don't like PETA. There is a way to have a rational discussion without jumping to conclusions, but I suppose this probably isn't the website

Oh, if you want to get PETA's side of the story on the euthanization, here is a link: [link]

I warn you though, there are some horrific pictures of abused animals there. The truth is sometimes ugly.

More ridiculousness. Do you think they put "thousands of animals to death" because all this animal rights stuff is just a subterfuge to get thier hands on animals to kill? Use some common sense. They euthanize animals that are dumped on them by irresponsible idiots. They try to find homes for these animals but as anyone in the rescue/shelter business will tell you, most of them get euthanized. PETA is not a shelter/rescue organization in the first place, so they aren't set up to take in

Again, deflecting the point to some random and misleading stat to avoid talking about the real issue.
