This is "Awesome Parenting" week. There's got to be some reason why I'm leafing through websites and seeing things like Justin Bieber (who is still only 17 years old) getting matching tattoos with his dad or reading that Leighton Meester has had to be reduced to suing her mother for mishandling the money she was giving her to help with the medical costs for her brother.
You can make the jokes that you want about how Leighton's mother gave birth to her after she'd been sentenced for trafficking in marijuana but I'm not entirely convinced that's what's making her such an asshole. Leighton has been sending her mother $7,500 a month (A F*CKING MONTH?!?!) because her younger brother has expensive medical bills that relate to him having had a brain tumor. She was doing this because her little bro is still a minor and her mother Constance has refused to get a job to cover these expenses. You know, like a parent f*cking SHOULD.
However, because Constance started spending the money on Botox, hair extensions and other forms of plastic surgery, Leighton stopped paying and filed a lawsuit about the misused funds. Instead of hanging her head in shame like she should, Mama Meester has hit back with her own lawsuit. Yes, this wonderful human being claims that she had a verbal agreement with her daughter to be paid $10,000 a month and that it wasn't just for her younger brother's medical fees (he underwent brain surgery last May).
Constance has alleged that she is a "dependent adult" who should be collecting welfare but instead relied on her famous daughter for money. (Add that up and the bitch would be clearing $120,000 a year for doing NOTHING.) She says that she gave up personal happiness to help Leighton become an actress and that the "Gossip Girl" star now owes her over $200,000 for the money she supposedly invested in acting classes and private schools. She's also accusing her daughter of hitting her over the head with a plastic water bottle.
This just sickens me. I think I could hate an actor or actress and still find this type of behavior from their parent to be utterly abhorrent. But Leighton seems like she's a fairly mild-tempered and decent person, so this just makes it all that much worse.
