Someone snapped some pics of model/actress Mischa Barton out and about the other day, having gained some considerable weight. I've seen a lot of folks posting these pics around the web, basically having a shit fit about the pounds she's tacked on, which she has. It's pretty obvious. Still, there's nothing there I wouldn't get with. In fact, I've dated women who look a lot like her. What's the big deal here? If she wasn't famous, would anyone give a shit? The issue here is not weight she's put on. The real problem here is that Mischa used to look like this not so long ago:
Everyone liked her for that, which is understandable. Back then she was thin and beautiful. Now she's just beautiful, which somehow translates into a huge problem I guess. I grant that it is a somewhat startling change, if only because we don't normally see women of Mischa's ilk transform this way. They're expected to be thin and beautiful forever. I've never been held to that standard personally, but I can imagine how difficult it must be. Me, I don't have a problem with her either way, "perfect" or not.
