I once bumped into Fred Armisen at LAX, when I was busy rescuing my favorite Aussie (long story, culminating mainly in a love affair with Old Navy). He was polite, affable and otherwise seemed like a really cool dude. So it's felt rather weird reading the commentary that his ex-wife and "Mad Men" star, actress Elisabeth Moss has made about him and their brief 8-month marriage.
Back in 2012, Moss was interviewed and explained that while many people have lauded his impersonations, that "the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person." Since that quote, Armisen went on the Howard Stern show to explain that he was a terrible person. That doesn't seem to have stopped Moss from further explaining in the current issue of New York magazine (which she appears here with her bountiful side boob) that being married to him was "extremely traumatic and awful and horrible."
I haven't had a chance to dig into "Mad Men" but from all that I've been told, Moss is one of the strongest female presences on the show, so I can't belittle her acting talent. It just feels rather uncomfortable to hear all this personal information getting spread about. Then again, at least it's not another Alec Baldwin diatribe.
