Looks like Victoria's Secret has decided not to renew Miranda Kerr's $1 million contract, effectively cutting off her angel wings for good. Numerous reasons are coming out as to why they would do such a silly thing, ranging from claims that Miranda is "not a big seller for VS" to accusations that she "has a difficult reputation," which seems to relate to a supposedly poor attitude toward the people she works with, including the other models. I don't know, sounds suspiciously like legalese for "we've got hot, young 16-year-olds coming up and Miranda is the veteran on our roster we can afford to do away with." The consolation prize is that Miranda can still do stuff with VS. She just gets paid scale, or day rate, as they refer to it. That's sort of like firing a lead actor in a movie, then inviting them back to be an extra.
Kind of a bummer for Miranda, but she's pretty flush with cash from a decade of modelling, so she'll be okay I'm sure. I guess every model faces this day when they are no longer the fresh face everyone wants. Still, she's only 29. I know that's pretty long in the tooth as far as models go, but it's not like she's changed very much from 10 years ago. Feels a little early for VS to be putting her out to pasture, especially since she's not even the oldest angel they have. Hopefully some other company snatches her up quick and shows VS what a blunder they've made.
