As to the question about being cast as a sex pot in her earlier roles, Helen had the following to say: “They weren’t treating me as sex symbol because I never was that. But visually, I fitted into that scenario. Also, I didn’t see any conflict in being a feminist and wearing sexy clothes, because I liked that. I love nice clothes, but my Bohemian version. And I didn’t see why I couldn’t be that and intelligent and articulate. But when you are younger, people don’t like you to be pert. It gets disturbing.”
You know what's great about Helen Mirren? Not only is the she the breed of actress that you don't get to see these days, intelligent, graceful and poised, she also has maintained her looks through what I believe is just her ability to be an honest, hard-working person and not just some celebutard out for the dolla dolla bills, y'all. Why can't there be more like her?
