I am finding that the month of May is rather odd in an interesting way when it comes to what the studios have decided to release on similar weekends. This past weekend saw the big budget superhero movie THOR opening opposite of THE BEAVER. Wrapping up the month will see which animal pack will take the top prize when THE HANGOVER PART II does battle against KUNG-FU PANDA 2. On May 20th, the franchise which rode the swaggering, drunken coattails of Johnny Depp's brilliant character creation, Captain Jack Sparrow to box office domination for 3 installments is hitting up movie goers' pockets again with the fourth incarnation, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES. Its competition? Well, Woody Allen, of course. The hottie parade showing up for the West Coast premiere of P4 didn't seem swayed by the looming Jewish powerhouse.
