It kinda sucks being an adult with ADD (attention deficit disorder). While the term might make you think that I can't sit still or focus on something for more than a couple minutes or two (which is sometimes the case), it can also mean that I end up wildly engrossed in needless topics, incapable of realizing that an hour has gone by and I've done nothing but look up old pictures of Renee Zellweger.
I really like Zellweger as an actress. I probably caught on to her earlier than Tom Cruise, who raised her up into being a household name in the mid 1990's with her casting in JERRY MAGUIRE. (LOVE AND A .45 Renee is my favorite.) I also didn't just do the idle fawning that so many women did in the early 2000's when she took on the role of beloved plus-sized fictional heroine, Bridget Jones. (Remember how it was said that the average sized Zellweger got "fat" for the role? Looking at the pictures from that movie just makes it feel that much more ludicrous to me.)
She hasn't been taking on many roles as of late, her last being an indie film called MY OWN LOVE SONG, co-starring Elias "The OG Casey Jones" Koteas and Forest Wittaker in 2010. And that was the only thing she did that year. Laying low perhaps because she was recovering from plastic surgery or too much Botox, I have to guess, looking at the tightness around her eyes and the still waters of her waxy forehead. It's a shame, really. While she was never exactly a perfect beauty, with her over-pronounced before-it-was-called-a-duck-face pout and breathy speech patterns blown at you through those chipmunk cheeks, Renee had a special something to her. Now she looks far older than her 45-years, despite what she's done to herself to feel as if she's maintaining a look of youth.
Next year she'll appear in THE WHOLE TRUTH alongside Keanu Reeves. Maybe she'll chill out a bit on the work so that she looks more like our apron wearing, sugarhigh darling once more.
