ScreenCaps: X-Men: First Class

I hated this movie and don’t think any of the actresses should be judged for their roles since they were very poorly and blandly written.

I’m not too familiar with January Jones. I know who she is but haven’t watched too many episodes of Mad Men or seen many of her movies.

Something I noticed is that all of Rose Byrne’s Hollywood roles lately have been shitty. She’s been consistently wasted. However, in her early Australian movies, indie movies, and the TV show, Damages, she’s excellent.

As for Jennifer Lawrence, I’ve seen some of her previous movies and she’s a great actress too. This is the first Hollywood role I’ve seen her in and the first bland character she’s played. Coincidence? Not that all mainstream movies are bad, far from it, but some of them don’t really contain fully dimensional characters (to put it mildly) and aren’t movies that are conducive to actresses being able to showcase their personality.

The fact that every actress in this movie either appears in lingerie at some point or is naked with blue paint show’s you where this movie’s priorities are. And it’s not with giving women empowering, well written roles.
