Bio / Info
Born in Houston, Texas to Matthew and Tina Knowles, Beyonce was managed by her father to be a singer from the time that she was a young girl, even with a 1983 appearance on "Star Search." He helped to get the girl group Destiny's Child together in order to propel his daughter's career, often times pressuring out members of the group who would not go along with his plans for what he had in mind. Knowles was often referred to by just her first name, much like Shakira or Madonna but has adopted her last name as a legitimate tactic in her acting career path. In April of 2008 she married musician/rapper Jay-Z in a private ceremony that they did not confirm for months. Her younger sister, Solange Knowles, is also involved in the music business. In 2005, she sang 3 of the 5 Oscar nominated songs during the show's production. In 2009 she became the peace maker when stepping between rapper Kanye West and country singer Taylor Swift when West interrupted the teen during her award acceptance speech. Her acting credits frequently include singing performances, including THE FIGHTING TEMPTATIONS, the 2006 remake of THE PINK PANTHER, DREAMGIRLS and CADILLAC RECORDS.
