Born in Simi Valley, California, Shailene Woodley began her career with small roles on television shows such as "The O.C." In 2006, Woodley was diagnosed with Idiopathic Scoliosis and wore a chest-to-hips plastic brace for two years, which proved a successful treatment. In 2008, she was cast as the lead of the popular Family Channel series, "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." In 2011, she took a role in THE DESCENDANTS which resulted in a Golden Globe nomination. In 2013, she began filming the sequel to the rebooted SPIDER-MAN movies, cast in the role of Mary Jane.
