Shania Twain's birthname was Eilleen Regina Edwards, the middle of three daughters born to a mother who later remarried Jerry Twain, a full-blooded Ojibwa native from Timmins, Ontario, who adopted her as his own when she was 6-years old. At the age of 22, both of her parents were killed in a car crash and Shania became the legal guardian of her two younger half-brothers who were young teens at the time. In 1991, she changed her first name to Shania (meaning "I'm on my way" in Ojibwa) and embarked on a recording career with Mercury Nashville. Met and married famous music producer Mutt Lange in 1993 but later divorced him in 2010 after allegations of infidelity. The couple have a son, Eja, together.
