Born in New Jersey and raised in Queens, New York, Zoe Saldana eventually moved to the Dominican Republic when she was 10 years old and lived there until she was 17, learning ballet at the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy. Seh moved back to the states at that time and started performing with the Faces theater troupe. It was in this dance group and when she was performing in New York that she was discovered and cast in the ballet movie CENTER STAGE in 2000. Saldana was cast as a Trekkie in Steven Spielberg's 2004 film, THE TERMINAL and later went on to greater recognition as Uhura in the 2009 remake of STAR TREK. She has held top rankings on the Hot lists at Maxim and FHM magazine as well as being regularly selected for the annual Most Beautiful list in People magazine.
