What's it about
Blind Eye is an action thriller about a brotherhood of friends from a small town. Nick becomes a 'big city' cop with a cavalier style. Jay remains the 'small town' cop. Rudy and Tim end up on the wrong side of the legal tracks. When Katherine, Nick's estranged wife, calls Nick needing his help to find their missing daughter, Nick comes home to aid in the investigation and he discovers that there's more to the disappearance than his 'friends' are letting on. Soon they discover that betrayal was their first mistake.
Is it good movie?
So this little flick isn't too bad. It's a police story which shouldn't really surprise anyone, but the movie really tries to focus on character development rather than simply blowing things up all over the place (although that could be because there was no money to blow stuff up). It reminds me a fair amount of some of the more classic gangster flicks I've seen, or even like the more recent We Own the Night, if it were crossed with Gone Baby Gone (although both of those films are far superior to this one).
As I said before, this movie relies a lot on its story which is decent. It feels like something you're familiar with but not as if you've seen the whole thing before. The acting is fairly decent, certainly good enough to get by, and there are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing as to the whereabouts of the missing girl.
Also, if you need any more incentive to watch this film, I will give you some: Roddy Piper is in it. Yeah, the same kilt wearing, Hell Comes to Frogtown hero graces this little film with his presence, and he really owns. So WWE fans, this is your chance to see the Hot Rod in what has to be one of his final film roles (he looks awful, and just survived a bout with cancer).
Video / Audio
Blind Eye is not at all a horror movie, but a coming-of-age/detective/mystery story that relies heavily on its relatively capable cast. You won't see lots of effects or even any great direction or special shots, but the story might be decent enough for you to check this out.
