What's it about
A deranged man captures a young woman and tortures her, and us, in his basement in order to make her into his slave.
Is it good movie?
First things first, let me say that while I don't appreciate Bill Zebub's movies very much, I admire his dedication to the things he loves. Namely metal and naked chicks. I have seen a few of his movies, and while they can often be tedious and repetitive, not the least to say exploitive of women, they are generally humorous and, like I said, show a profund love of what he is doing. And hey, someone determine to continue making local independent films is never a bad thing (I choose to ignore the argument that he really has no other choice).

With Breaking Her Will, Zebub takes a departure from his normally frenetically paced un-pc-athons. Unfortunately, this makes the film more tedious, not less. Most of the action takes place between an unnamed man and an unnamed woman, in one room. He does what are presumably horrific things to her, but they are handled in such a comical way as to defuse any tension before it even begins. Some interesting plot points occur later, when the man turns his cruelty from physical acts to mental terror. Alas and alack, it doesn't fare any better for the viewer than the earlier tactics. Just ho-hum.

The first red flag you will notice is the blurb on the cover telling you how disturbing the film is. And then the very first title card lets you know that it is "A Disturbing film by Bill Zebub". Kind of makes you wonder who he is trying to convince that the film is disturbing, us or him. The only people I can imagine finding this film disturbing are people who only watch romantic comedies and ten-year olds. Scream made me more nervous than this film. The least he could have given us was some retribution at the end of the film but no, it ends like it begins: with a yawn.
Video / Audio
Video: Shot on video, looks good, even if there is no real artistry happening with the mostly static camera shots.

Audio: Not sure. Sounds good, though. Lots of metal. Gotta love that.
The Extras
Yay! None! Well, there is a trailer, for Jesus Christ Serial Rapist of all things. It doesn't make me want to see the film.
Last Call
The bottom line is, if you want to enjoy a Bill Zebub film, get one of his other ones. Breaking Her Will is a failed experiment. Boring psuedo-torture and extensive scenes of a chubby dude brushing his teeth. Excellent.
