What's it about
Ahab, a man obsessed with exacting a brutal, violent revenge on the man who murdered his dad, joins John, an eager priest, and Twink, a hot-headed street hustler, on an epic quest to find and defeat this mythical monster known as Chris Fuchman AKA The Father's Day Killer.
Is it good movie?
This one has Troma on the cover, so you know you're in for a zany time.
Father's day is about a rapist. Not just any rapist of course, but a
rapist murderer who hunts Dads (and goes by the name of Fuchman). Yeah,
he rapes fathers and kills them. Who's out to stop him? Well, a cyclops
named Ahab. Yeah, he teams up with a gigolo and a stupid priest to take
Believe it or not, this flick is played for serious which can add some
real laughs. This doesn't really bother me because I'm tired of getting
beaten over the head by these borderline parody flicks that end up
being totally unfunny and losing the point by hitting you with too much
absurdity. It also packs a great soundtrack that spans a few genres.
Anyway, this doesn't mean that Father's day is bolted down. Quite the
opposite in fact- this flick is pretty insane. There's a lot going on
and know that it moves quickly. You're in for a ton of action, stupid
gore and cocks abound (yeah, you read that right).
Surprisingly, there's quite a bit going on and a lot of characters to
keep track of but the story remains fairly understandable. Fuchman
killed Ahab's father, sending him to a convent to be raised while his
sister became a stripper. When trying to gain a measure of revenge,
Ahab kills the wrong guy and ends up in jail for a dime while the
Fucher is out taking out the helpless Dads.
Meanwhile, a pathetic priest, Ahab's sister and Twink the man-whore try
to convince Ahab to take down that ugly Fuch. Got all that? well, good.
This one is a wild ride and it's jam-packed with explicit nudity,
mostly male. You're going to see an awful lot of the rapist, so I hope
you dig it. It's extreme and nasty. To match the nudity there's plenty
of gore, with all kinds of gunshot wounds, appendages being bitten off
and other fun things to engage fountains of gush.
This is a movie that is designed to entertain a pretty specific niche
audience, and for the most part, it worked for me. It moves really
quickly (which could admittedly be taken as criticism), and the serious
nature allows you to laugh when you feel like it. I was turned off a
bit when they movie gained a seemingly unnecessary supernatural aspect
to it near the end. Also, for all the hyping the flick does, the movie
doesn't sport a great final sequence and really ends out of nowhere.
To conclude, this is one movie that isn't afraid of rules, convention,
decency or sexual preference. Look out for a twisted take!
