What's it about
An angry spirit gets inside a young girl and starts messing with everybody while a hardbody nun tries to save her. It's like the Exorcist with tons of boobs and no scares at all.
Is it good movie?
If Malabimba: The Malicious Whore (one the greatest titles ever BTW) billed itself as a straight softcore flick then it would be mildly above average. It's got a mostly attractive and all natural cast, plenty of intense overacting, and a laundry list of sexual no-no's including nun f*cking, incest, ghost rape and gratuitous use of stuffed animals as masturbatory aides.

Unfortunately M:TMW wants to sell itself as horror, exploitation horror for sure, but horror nonetheless. And from that perspective it fails miserably. Obviously pulling plot points from The Exorcist, this not quite parody doesn't deliver a single scare, moment of suspense, or bit of gore.

The movie actually opens with some promise, delivering a high intensity sťance that culminates in a spirit blowjob, clothes being ripped from the living and a nun exploring her "sacred center". But from that point on there's little thought given to anything but moving from one sex scene to the next. Which bring us back to the original point. Pretty good softcore. Not very good horror.

No question there is fun to be had with this Malicious Whore, as long as you know you're heading into the land of Skinemax when you pick it up. Also, despite claiming it is unrated, this DVD does not include any of the hardcore inserts that helped create such controversy upon its initial release.

The Extras
Deleted Scenes

Integral Version - Lets you watch the whole movie with the deleted scenes incorporated back into the movie. You're not missing anything, though, and many of the deleted scenes look awful because they were never properly processed.

Malabimba Uncovered - Listen to Actress Mariangela Giordana and Cinematographer Franco Villa try to explain why this isn't just a standard skin flick.

Last Call
Not scary, and nowhere near as shocking as descriptions might make it sound, Malabimba: The Malicious whore is largely admirable for its truly excellent English title. Beyond that it is best suited to a night of MST3K'ing movies, or perhaps getting your horror loving significant other feeling a little alive in the pants.
