RAVAGE THE SCREAM QUEEN

What's it about
Two guys find a “snuff” film while camping. They decide that kidnapping, raping and torturing women would be awesome, so they do it.
Is it good movie?
I’m a big fan of exploitation cinema. It can be shocking, funny, offensive and all sorts of goodness. I’m talking I Spit On Your Grave, Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Blood Beach, Pieces, I could go on and on about some of the best in this sub-genre. But what about Ravage the Scream Queen directed by Bill Zebub? Well, the big difference between the films I first mentioned and this atrocity is that they all had some heart and soul. Ravage is just a chance for two older gentlemen to fondle women’s breasts and give something to all those dudes out there who get off on rape fantasy films. Sure the women are attractive enough, but really, there is nothing erotic about this. While it tries to be shocking, it is merely repetitive and dull. The acting is non-existent and so is the production value.
So the question is, why make a movie like this? Surely there are men out there that are jerking it to watching women get “raped” in a snuff type film. But there are truly no worries about this being an honest to goodness snuff film, the actresses are clearly fine with this kind of material. Honestly, the only thing offensive about this is the fact that I had to waste time watching it. When it comes to eroticism, there are many films that offer this without the monotony that haunts Ravage. Every sequence spends too much time with the two “leading men” squeezing the victim’s boobs. Occasionally they threaten these poor ladies calling them “c*nt” along with a few other lame attempts at scary dialogue. To make matters worse, the music doesn’t fit at all. The Satanic sounding droning just goes on and on with the boobie fondling, and it sure ain’t scary. So this isn’t sexy, it isn’t scary, and it isn’t even funny, it is just plain awful.
Video / Audio
Video: Fine enough for a straight to DVD skin flick.
Audio: About the same as video.
Well, if you are a glutton for punishment, or you this kind of thing really turns you on, you can check out a bonus chapter of Deleted Snuff Scenes… Dig in.
This piece of exploitation is not nearly as intriguing or shocking as it may want to be. It is simply a sleazy, yet dull, feature about two guys fondling naked women in various stages of torture. The only one truly being tortured is the audience… unless you’re into that sort of thing. I recommend just watching your copy of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer again instead of suffering through this.
