What's it about
A religious fanatic collects an array of seedy characters to allow his mutated sister to rip them apart.
Is it good movie?
Sometimes movies try a little too hard to be hip. Sure, initially whatever technique used appears unique, but if overused, itíll drive you straight batty, leaving no room to focus on anything beyond those annoying elements that were suppose to enhance the film, not detract from it.

Out of the ten or so characters in The Death Factory Bloodletting, not one ends up relatable or likeable. Our female hero shoots dope and isnít exactly a ball to watch. She, like the others, attempt to reveal some sort of humanistic background, but letís be honest, theyíre a collected group of scum: pedophiles, Nazis, slave traders, whores, snuff dealers who gather to view a bloodletting. Not exactly Sunday school material. The ring leader of this Holy event is a Charlie Manson wannabe with religious ideals. See, he has this crazy, mutant sister who rips people apart with Freddy Krueger like claws. Nasty stuff. But he views this work as washing the filth from the streets. Someone has to do it. But thereís trouble at the show; what this collected group of low-lives doesnít know is theyíre the meal ticket. Uh oh. Meanwhile, we learn our female warrior has a score to settle. But can she complete her personal vendetta before the bloodletting begins?

For The Death Factory Bloodletting, a few things drove me nuts that I must extract from my chest. For one, the quick slow-mo zooms (ala any Guy Ritchie movie) grow old quickly, especially when director Sean Tretta feels the need to flash character names and mini bios onscreen despite having zero bearing on the film. Then thereís the heavy metal music. It blares every time the dialogue or story lags. Donít have any proper tension to insert into a scene? Crank the metal to 11 for added fear. I could go on and on, but then itíd make it seem like I hated the flick. Which, surprising, I didnít.

More or less, The Death Factory Bloodletting is a Seven and Saw rip-off, which itself becomes an oxymoron. The film might lack any character development or sensible plot, it does something not all movies canóentertainment. The flick keeps truckiní along not matter what occurs. Minimal gore occurs as most of the violence happens off screen. But somehow, it works better that way. If a budget doesnít exist for proper character death, go Hitchcock on us and allow our own imaginations to create the horror.

The Extras
Note that all these extras total about 10 minutes all together.

Commentary: Director Tretta, producer Dustin Lowry, and actor Noah Todd provide the track. It's mostly entertaining and informative. Much more than the behind-the-scenes. Like all effective commentaries, it makes one much more appreciative of all the hard work that goes into independent horror. Most of all, they shot this movie in nine days. Good work, boys.

Behind the Scenes: Well, it does contain behind-the-scenes footage, but thereís no actual discussion of the film. No interviews. Instead, itís literary footage taken behind scenes. Nothing overly intriguing.

Killing Cockmaster: Again, no discussion. Witness a scene being put together, but no major details emerge.

Shot in the Head: The most interesting aspect here comes from how fake a gun shot to the head can look.

Deleted Scene: Charlie Manson kills a baby. Sorta. Itís more of an extended sequence than deleted material.
Last Call
Overall, for a Saw and Seven rip-off, The Death Factory Bloodletting isnít a bad flick. It does its job or keeping the story moving and follows the traditional shocker/stalker flick even if everything within it screams and bleeds mediocre. But for a flick with no budget, its overall effective and entertaining.
