What's it about
Shot like a documentary, a young film student desperate to make something of himself ends up making porn movies in Serbia where the industry is crazy sick. Struggling for money, he comes across a shady snuff film producer who gets him into the act of combining porn and snuff in his movies.
Is it good movie?
I'm letting you know right off the bat, that this is not my type of movie. The combination of porn, documentary-style shooting, gross acts, and subtitles does not make for an enjoyable viewing experience. What also doesn't help is an extremely unlikable lead, which is precisely what I got in Miaden Djordjevic (who also wrote and directed). For the first third of the movie, all we get is this guy bitching and moaning about wanting to be a filmmaker, yet he's lazy, parties too much, and treats his girlfriend badly. Oh yeah, and he's a spoiled brat too (his father is loaded).

Oh, and did I mention the complete lack of anything even remotely horror-related? Other than gross footage of a wasted Djordjevic puking instead of getting out and trying to get his film made. I suppose it's only fitting that he soon sinks into the porn industry. Now, we get some graphic shots of all the dirty business that goes into making such trash. Again, still no horror. We have to suffer a-whole-nother stretch of annoying characters attempting to make shitty porn.

I will admit that the idea of combining "faked" porn with "faked" snuff could have potentially created an interesting spin for a horror movie. But I'm not sure if that's what the filmmakers were intending on. So much time is spent on developing the unlikable main character and this video diary he's so intent on keeping. By the time some violence does come, I was already too disheartened with the proceedings to even give a shit. And it does not help that they're speaking a language I can't understand the whole time. Plus, the subtitles don't stay up long enough to be able to read them and still concentrate on what's happening on screen. Then again, I didn't care what was on the screen anyways.

Video Widescreen 1.85:1

Audio Serbian dolby digital with English subtitles.

The Extras
The real documentary Made in Serbia which is maybe a little bit better than the movie.

A quick Making Of featurette.

Some "Explicit" Reversible Cover Art.

Some Deleted Scenes that were thankfully cut even though the movie was too long to begin with.

The film's Theatrical Trailer.

Last Call
To sum up my worthless opinion, this mockumentary was unwatchable. A horribly annoying lead character surrounded by equally despicable sub characters. The flick takes way too long to get to any aspects of horror. The foreign language became grating and the subtitles were a pain to read. And the shaky, docu-style camera technique added nothing creative at all. If this film was made in Serbia then it should have stayed in Serbia.
