Sometimes when a movie is bad... I mean really
bad, I like to play a game. The game is, try and figure out the plot twists and see if you get it right. I did. I actually wrote down the killer about twenty minutes in. Yeah, it took me awhile but I was thinking about other things that I could be doing. There is a moment in this "Grade Z" opus where the lead character is assaulted by these dudes wearing masks yet he is taken from behind. Later, when shown a picture of some devil cult kooks, he is able to identify them. HE DIDN’T SEE THEM!!! I watched the scene again just to make sure I wasn’t crazy.
So the plot is this guy moves back in with his dad, played very badly by David Rigg
. When he gets home his mother, played with a little more flair by Desiree Gould
from the cult classic Sleepaway Camp
begs him to come back to her. And then, this dude finds his home has been turned into an apartment complex. And we come to find out there’s a murder of some hooker that’s into pentagrams. So he enlists his friends to help catch the killer. Lucky for them, Rick (played by Director Dave Campfield
) has a bunch of video equipment so they can spy on everybody. See, there is an interesting premise here, but this is amateur hour. Mr. Campfield uses awful close-ups of the actors and a bare minimum set design that screams CHEAP! There is a way to do a film like this with very little money but this wasn’t it.
I did however like Eric Conley as Justin. He is a good actor and showed some skill. Sadly he had very little to work with and they had him wear this big ass Cross to let you know he was a Christian. Sorry, but the only thing that Cross did was distract. There are plenty of other ways to let the audience know a character is religious. I also dug seeing Felissa Rose
in the supporting role of Heidi the slut. If you don’t recognize the name then you should be ashamed of yourself. The lovely Ms. Rose was Angela, the ultimate Sleepaway Camp
vet. Not much of a role but still enjoyable to see her back in the horror genre.
