Here is our first look at Brad Pitt as Aldo Raine, leader of the ragtag INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS (and yes, that’s how it’s supposed to be spelled) courtesy of The Quentin Tarantino Archives. Nothing too out of the ordinary. What will be interesting is Pitt accent in the WWII flick, since his character is a straight-up redneck from Tennessee. I’m going to guess Mr. Jolie is going to have a lot of fun with this role…

Also revealed on the site – for the first time I think – are the actors who are playing historical figures Adolf Hitler, Joseph Goebbels, and Winston Churchill. I’ve never heard of two of the actors (Martin Wittke, Sylvester Groth, as Hitler and Goebbels, respectively) so I’m guessing Tarantino is choosing authenticity over stunt-casting, which is a great thing. Rod Taylor is an old pro that I haven’t seen in ages, so it’s very cool to see him pop up in a movie this potentially epic. (You’ll remember him as the lead in THE BIRDS and THE TIME MACHINE.)

Tarantino hopes to have I.B. ready for Cannes in May, which is a very tight schedule indeed, but maybe it’ll give the film a fast and loose feel, something it could certainly benefit from. Still figures to be about 2 hr. and 30 min. though…
