3 from Hell cast announcement: Rob Zombie saves Richard Brake for last

31 Rob Zombie Richard Brake

Although star Bill Moseley has revealed that production has wrapped on Rob Zombie's 3 FROM HELL, a sequel to the writer/director's films HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, I fully expected Zombie to continue announcing the names of cast members until the project was well into post. It doesn't look like that will be the case, as Zombie has posted another casting announcement with the note that "I believe this will be my last casting news."

The cast member Zombie waited to announce last is an actor he has worked with twice before, first on HALLOWEEN II and later on 31. Although the actor had a minor role in the HALLOWEEN sequel, showing up just long enough to joke about doing inappropriate things with corpses and get decapitated by Michael Myers, he had a major role in 31, that of the homicidal madman Doom-Head. Although I didn't like the Doom-Head character myself, I know he was a favorite for viewers who did enjoy 31. Zombie was pretty fond of Doom-Head, hyping him as "the next great villain of horror".

That actor is Richard Brake, and it sounds like Zombie has written another major role for him in 3 FROM HELL. He said:

There's a new reject on the horizon and he's ready to party. If you loved (Brake) as Doom-Head you're gonna love what he does in this.

Brake joins a cast that includes CORPSES and REJECTS stars Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, and Sheri Moon Zombie, returning REJECTS actors Danny Trejo and Daniel Roebuck, and fellow new additions Austin Stoker, Dee Wallace, Emilio Rivera, Jeff Daniel Phillips, David Ury, Tom Papa, Dot-Marie Jones, Pancho Moler, Richard Edson, Richard Riehle, Kevin Jackson, Billy Blair, Steven Michael Quezada, Bill Oberst Jr., Sylvia Jefferies, Sean Whalen, and Clint Howard (as a clown called Mr. Baggy Britches).

Now that filming has ended on 3 FROM HELL, we wait to hear what the distribution plans are… And maybe sometime along the way we'll find out what exactly this movie is about.
