Looking back at Rob Zombie's Halloween II (2009), was it a misunderstood film?

Yes it was! Flick rocked!
Hated the theatrical cut but the Director's Cut sold me!
It was a piece of shit, nothing to misunderstand.
I've never seen Zombie's sequel...

Sorry, I donīt get the love for the movie. What was good in it? The annoying characters, the completely messed up sort of storytelling, the laughable script? Hell, even Busta Rhymes fistfight with Myers wasnīt as stupid as this one. And that speaks for itself. I know Rob Zombie got a whole lot of supporters (rightfully so) but he totally missed his mark with this one!

horrible, and yet, not the worst entry

While I found RZ's Halloween and it's sequel horrific, blasphemous tragedies of horror filmmaking, I can't say with a straight face that they are the worst Halloween entries. Still, I avoid them both like the black plague.

I dont mind the first remake, even though it's flawed up and down the road but the sequel is fucking shit. Even watching it as its own movie with no relation to the first, it's just nonsensical and stupid with some of the most boring, bland kills and an unimaginative ending. No, this movie is NOT misunderstood.

Personally couldn't vote based on the above options. I definately do not hate these movies but I'd never go as far as say I loved them either. For me it would have been better had they not been Halloween movies, simply because they never feel like Halloween movies. I know one of the purposes of a remake is not copying the original but making something of your own, yet sometimes you can stray too far away from your source material and it doesn't work - at least not on that level. Michael

Michael never needed to be explained (they should've learned from trying to explain him via Thorn) and the majority of characters you're supposed to root for are so unlikable. Harris' Annie and Dourif's Bracket aside I cared for nobody especially Laurie. I actually wished they'd killed her and kept Annie as the damaged heroine - a much more interesting character and storyline for me and I was sad to see her watsed here simply to bring her back and kill her in the same way she was supposed to die in the first movie. That said at least he had the balls to do try something different, had the Halloween element (Michael, Lauire, loomis etc..) been ignored and this was simply an unstoppable behemoth by another name then it may have been more acceptable to some. Overall I appreciate these movies though. I just wish they'd make the Halloween based on those amazing concepts leaked a few weeks ago.

I really hated it on my first viewing. I watched it again, and while I liked it a little better, I still have a lot of problems with it. My biggest issue is that Zombie makes Laurie and Loomis completely unlikable. I thought their casting was great and they were both great in the first film, but I just didn't want to keep watching them when I couldn't stand them in Part 2. I get that Zombie was trying to make a statement on how the violence of Michael Myers has a lasting effect, but there was a

I get that Zombie was trying to make a statement on how the violence of Michael Myers has a lasting effect, but there was a better way of doing it. Much like the white trash kitchen scene in the first one, the way Laurie becomes a completely different person is WAY over the top. I think more subtlety could have been employed to counteract the incredibly violent (and effective) kill scenes.

My initial Review for H2 on this site gave it a 7.5/10 and everyone said my rating was only high because of Danielle Harris...Well yeah, but the movie ain't so bad itself.

The movie gets a lot of hate...but I'm personally a fan of this sequel. I like it quite a bit. I DO prefer the theatrical cut though.

I watch it from time to time. I didn't care for the whole aspect of Zombie continually showing us what drove Michael. Only needed to see what drove his madness once. Laurie was pretty annoying and Loomis' 180 was kinda forced and somewhat a slap in the face. I get that it was Zombie's vision on his remake but he could have made a totally different film. I think what really makes me indifferent to this sequel of a reboot is the fact that, Sheri Moon Zombie was in both films way too much. Hot

She just ruined my mood from the get-go. A+ for the Myers head stomp though!

I have a love/hate relationship with this movie. I dug the risks Zombie took with the narrative (changing the character of Dr. Loomis the way he did took some balls) and the new things he brought to the table- while hit and miss- were plenty intriguing and I respect the ambition behind them. I wasn't bored watching it, that's for sure. That said, I've seen it in theaters and once at home, and I just haven't had much of an urge to watch it again since. I've yet to see the Director's Cut, either,

I've yet to see the Director's Cut, either, so I dunno how crazy the differences are; I just remember being confused as to what EXACTLY Michael wanted with Laurie. There were so many opportunities for him to just pop up and kill her and it does seem that he wants to... but yet he doesn't. That and I do remember moments where I was chuckling when I shouldn't have been (The 30 second 'f*ck' monologue and some of the over the top violence, namely the broad getting her face smashed into glass I dunno how many times).

It was a continuation to his take on the Halloween film remake he made. Unfortunately, so many self described horror fans had a grudge against him, that as soon as it didn't mirror the plot to the original films sequel, they had a child like fit. I appreciate it for what it is. I cannot stand people who take a dump on remakes/ reboots, if it was up to these clowns we would never have the Fly, Blob, and Dawn of the Dead remakes. Morons.

No Way

The only decent part of the movie was a dream. It's a big F U to spend that much time on a scene just to say it's a dream. Supporters of this crap say it's hated because it's too different than the other movies. But it's just a bad movie. Horrible, annoying characters. I wanted to kill Laurie and Dr. Loomis. Mrs Zombie and the horse were laughable. Michael's over the top stabbing came off like a loony toons episode, and the audience was cracking up.

I remember seeing it in theaters and being impressed . I Loved it. Got home, logged online and saw that I was getting absolutely TRASHED! I was confused. I thought people would like it. The director's cut makes a lot more sense.

I love this movie! Rob Zombie did some really interesting things with the characters including The Shape himself and the look and feel of the film was very nightmarish. Plus, it was probably the first time I actually felt some genuine emotion for a character's death in a 'slasher' film in a very long time.

Better than the first, directors cut is pretty good.

Or, you know, except some may like the film?

I wish people would stop trying to convince themselves H2 was some masterpiece no one got. It was a piece of dog shit. Move on with your lives.

I dug it on the first watch. Maybe you're trying to convince yourself it was a piece of dogshit instead of the ambitious and misunderstood film it truly is, hence not moving on with your life...;)
