Wasn't scared by the first one but I liked it well enough. 2 and 3 felt like the same movie but with different actors, complete with the same recycled jump scares. No interest in seeing 4.

I really wanted to love these films, but I just couldn't. The first wasn't too bad as it had a couple of good ideas, but the sequels - as BTZombie88 put it - are nothing more than just cheap jump scares. I felt like the sequels were made by nothing more than some suit in a marketing position going: "Hmm, lets think up several different ways to do jump scares with cameras. Good! Right, now someone write me a story that revolves around these. Job done! Cut and print."

I found the first film to be very creepy, especially once I settled in for bed and all the lights were off after seeing it in theaters. It was very unsettling because you didn't know what was going on and the frightening scenes happened at just the right moments. It's not a masterpiece but it was scary on the first watch. However, none of the sequels have been anything more than cheap jump scares and ridiculous "explanations" to please the 15-year-old fans who need to know EVERYTHING.

However, I do enjoy seeing them in theaters just to laugh at them with my friends. We're obnoxious and have too much time on our hands.
