In your opinion, did The Amityville Horror really happen?

It all went down the way the Lutz family said it did.
It was an elaborate hoax created by the Lutz couple.
George Lutz dabbled in the occult and messed with his family.
I seriously have no freaking idea. Maybe it did happen. Maybe not.

We have the family's story.
We have the fact that nobody else has had an experience in the house.
We have a confession from Ronnie DeFeo's lawyer that he helped make the story up with George and Kathy.
That's probably all the evidence for and against the story we'll ever have. (Discrepancies between the book and reality are often attributed to the author's changes. Inconstancy between the stories told by the family members is often explained by the paranormal phenomena presenting itself

Inconstancy between the stories told by the family members is often explained by the paranormal phenomena presenting itself differently to everyone.)

Most people flock to the lawyer's confession and claim it as indisputable proof that it was all a hoax. But he didn't come out with that confession until he was suing the Lutzes for supposedly taking his idea to make a book out of it... three freaking decades later. I don't exactly consider his confession the most credible thing in the world.

Having said that, like every other story of a haunting, it's probably bullshit - but it's interesting so it's fun to consider as a possibility. So if you think I sound like a tool for entertaining the possibility: Screw you, I'm having fun. :P

I wasn't there either, but my opinion, based on the facts presented is that George Lutz was behind it all. PS: Oscar Pistorius killed his girlfriend out of jealous rage and the Jodi Arias killing was also a crime of passion. I wasn't there, just my take, based on the facts that have been slapped my way.

None of us can really say since none of us were there when it went down. However, of all the evidence I've seen, a lot of it doesn't make sense in the connection of their story or contradicts itself altogether. I don't believe that any of it happened, but I cant know for sure since I wasn't there.
