well if Scream 5 is gonna be as lackluster as the fourth one I'd rather have a tv series. I thought the villian from the fourth was pretty forgetable! I think a tv series could be cool if they could get the cast from the films involved, and we get a good director and group of writers.

@the arrow Agreed. I'm struggling to see how they could make a Scream TV show work. Then again I had written off Bates Motel and Hannibal before I watched them. Though hoping MTV can turn out that same type of quality is more than likely reaching too far.
I've loved all the sequels. 4 had some faults to be fair but overall nothing that spoiled it for me. It was more from a point I wanted MORE as I felt it lacked development in some areas. I remember reading reviews that the old guard

I've loved all the sequels. 4 had some faults to be fair but overall nothing that spoiled it for me. It was more from a point I wanted MORE as I felt it lacked development in some areas. I remember reading reviews that the old guard were sidelined for the new cast but I actually felt the new characters were lacking in the same development as existing ones and as such didn't feel they were overshadowing. Had more screentime, in particular chase scene time, been given to the main killer's character then I wouldn't have guessed their identity before walking in to the theatre. I really wished that gut feeling was wrong...

I'd personally place 4 and 2 on equal footing. Just rewatched 2 and it is still really effective. Given the changes made after the original killer's identities were leaked I think I'm one of the few who prefer how it turned out. The opening should have been stronger but other sequences in particular the car crash scene and Gale's chase in the sound studio were inventive and original in a genre that, while it's my favourite, can sometimes lack surprise. Factor in Sarah Michelle Gellar's big scene and IMO they still trounce a lot of what gets put out today in slasher chase scenes.

3.... I still love this black sheep. Granted when you hear what it could have been it pales significantly and it was itself a victim of the media backlash on violent movies at that time. It definately took the comedy angle too literally to the point of Scary Movie type parody at times whereas Scream 1 and 2 handled it more deftly. That said I did enjoy Parker Posey even though her character was the most guilty here. Sidney's chase around the film studio like a disjointed jigsaw of familiar surroundings is one of my all time favourites, I thought the killer's ID made sense in grand sense of a trilogy (though I'd much have preferred Williamson's original plans) and while ultimately bloodless the Scream movies have always had big fight scene endings with Sidney literally fighting for her life than simply running around screaming or waiting to be saved.
Hopefully if they make a 5th they'll have listened to the criticisms re studio tampering (I can dream). Just bring more Scream please!

I loved Part 4, it was the best of the sequels, am hip to Part 5! A TV Show? BAD IDEA IMO!

I actually really, really liked part four. It reminded of the first one. It was better than 2 and 3, so if they can keep that going with 5, do it.

I'll admit that a Scream TV show does sound like it could be fun, but my only issue is that it's being made for MTV. I'd rather see a new, R-rated Scream movie over a tween-friendly Scream TV show. But who knows? Maybe the TV show will be a hit and will revitalize the franchise, eventually paving the way for more Scream movies. Doubtful I'm sure, but it could happen.

If there is no Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette (movie or tv show) then ABSOLUTELY NOT! MTV most likely will just cast some stupid teeny bop cast and it will be targeted for 14 yr olds.

If the TV show isn't totally focused on being ultra hip I could see it being cool. A slasher TV show? Hell yes!

I'd like a Scream 5 but I'd worry that the same studio interference that affected Scream 4 would happen again. The original ending of Scream 4 sounds far superior then what we got. Also the alternative opening on the DVD is much more chilling then then what they went with. In fact I didn't see a reason for them to remove any of the deleted scenes shown on the DVD. A bit of character development was what Scream 4 was seriously lacking!

After watching Scream 4, I wanted a Scream 5. Number 4's killers were obsessed with social media and amateur videography. But, the movie did not develop this plot aspect much. I would like a Scream 5 making commentary on our on-line world.
However, I would not want a Scream film that was purely found-footage. The screenwriter and director could use a different cinematic style than that one.
