A Serbian Film Srdjan Spasojevic

I have never subjected myself to director Srdjan Spasojevic’s infamous, controversial A SERBIAN FILM. In fact, I have gone out of my way to avoid it – when the film played at a theatrical horror marathon I was attending, I chose (as did several others) to spend the next two hours sitting in the theatre lobby instead of watching even one minute of A SERBIAN FILM. The things that movie has to offer, I don’t want in my head.

Spasojevic’s next film WHEREOUT sounds much more appealing to me, as it’s a type of genre mash-up that I always find fascinating: a blend of western and the supernatural.

Scripted by Spasojevic and A SERBIAN FILM co-writer Aleksandar Radivojevic, WHEREOUT is described as a “supernatural bare-knuckle western” and tells the story of

a man determined to face mighty powers to protect the woman he loves. Driven onward by the sheer power of his own will, he fights through unknown worlds to defend the small remaining tract of their Utopian paradise. As the unrelenting battle unfolds, so strong is his purpose and so ferocious his resistance that the Universe itself will tremble.

Contra Film and Unearthed Films are producing the project, which is currently in pre-production.

I’ll probably never watch A SERBIAN FILM, but I am definitely interested in WHEREOUT.
