Mischa Barton stars in the upcoming horror film THE TOYBOX, which is set to reach theatres and VOD on September 18th… and just four days earlier, Barton will also be seen in the horror film THE BASEMENT, which Uncork'd Entertainment will be giving a digital and 10 market theatrical release.

Directed by Brian M. Conley and Nathan Ives, THE BASEMENT also stars Jackson Davis, Cayleb Long, Tracie Thoms, Sarah Nicklin, and Bailey Anne Borders. Written by Conley, Ives, and Sean Decker, the film tells the following story:

Craig is abducted and wakes up in a basement. His captor, Bill, is a twisted serial killer who wishes to reenact his own capture, with Craig playing the part of Bill and Bill playing everyone else. As Bill tortures Craig, he cycles through a number of personas, all while Craig tries desperately to find a way into Bill's pathology in order to save himself.

Hearing that the story deals with a captor who has multiple personalities immediately causes M. Night Shyamalan's SPLIT to come to mind, a comparison the press materials don't shy away from – they include the line "Don't be SPLIT on your decision to see THE BASEMENT this September!"

If you decide to watch THE BASEMENT, you'll have your chance beginning September 14th. In the meantime, here's the trailer:
