Adam Green teases releasing the Hatchet Trilogy as a single film

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Last night the city of Boston played host to the internationally broadcast “Boston Strong” event taking place at TD Garden as well as director Adam Green's fundraiser event to help raise money for the ONE FUND to benefit the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, which culminated in a HATCHET TRILOGY marathon, highlighted by the premiere of BJ McDonnell's HATCHET III, just ahead of the films limited theatrical run beginning on June 14 from MPI/Dark Sky Films.

According to Under The Gun, Green told the packed theater he plans to one day release the complete HATCHET trilogy as one single, epic feature film. He added the new cut would also include new sequences which were left out of the previous films, including at least one additional death scene intended for the original.

This could most certainly work as after checking out the clip we shared with you yesterday it’s apparent that the beginning of this new film flows directly from the ending of the last, just the same as HATCHET 2 picked up right after the original film.

The report goes on to say:

Before you get too excited, Green was quick to add that the likelihood of this project coming to life anytime soon is unlikely. In addition to having to find time in his already hectic schedule that includes Killer Pizza and Holliston promotion, Green noted how dealing with Anchor Bay owning Hatchet and Dark Skies owning Hatchet 2 & 3 would likely make the process difficult as well.

Let's hope Green can make this happen!

Early word from last nights screening of HATCHET III has been positive, with the report stating that the film "works beautifully as both a sequel and closing chapter in the safa of Victor Crowley". I can't wait to check this one out myself.

HATCHET III continues the tale of the now-iconic villain Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder). As a search and recovery team heads into the haunted swamp to pick up the pieces and carnage left behind from the first two films, Marybeth (Danielle Harris) hunts down the true secret to ending the voodoo curse that has left the ghost of Victor Crowley haunting and terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades.

HATCHET III will head to limited theaters on June 14th from MPI/Dark Sky Films.
