According to Screen Daily, principal photography has commenced in Australia on writer-director Michael Petroni’s BACKTRACK, starring Adrien Brody and Sam Neill. They’ve just premiered the first still from the thriller; you can see it above.

The film follows a psychologist whose life is thrown into chaos when he discovers his patients are all ghosts of people who died in an accident 20 years prior.

Um, I hope they didn’t just spoil the ending!

Also starring in BACKTRACK are THE LOVED ONES’ Robin McLeavy, Jenni Baird, Bruce Spence Anna Lise Phillips.

Director Petroni, whose writing credits include QUEEN OF THE DAMNED and the exorcism thriller THE RITE, had this to say about his latest project: “Backtrack is suspenseful and meaningful. The drama plays out in a nuanced manner as we explore the things that could easily haunt any man: childhood memories, loss. Guilt or ghost, our past has a way of keeping us from being present.”

Shooting wraps in mid-February. Madman Entertainment will distribute in Australia and New Zealand; BACKTRACK will be open to international buyers at next month’s EFM in Berlin.
