Twin Peaks

I probably need to watch this show. While it has been hinted at over the last few months that we’d see Kyle MacLachlan reprise his iconic role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper in Showtime’s reboot of “Twin Peaks”, it’s now official! Considering the internet collectively lost its shit back in October when it found out that David Lynch would be returning to his cult drama about the murder of a homecoming queen in a small Northwest town, I take it this is exciting news? Read on for the goods!

Apparently, MacLachlan surprised critics by taking the stage at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour Monday, where he handed a “damn good cup of coffee” to Showtime president David Nevins, reports EW. “I’m very excited to return to the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks,” said MacLachlan, dressed in a Cooper-style dark suit. “May the forest be with you.”

Nevins says the show will live up to expectations and that he was begging for Lynch and Mark Frost to reboot the show on Showtime, saying “And it felt like only way you could do it is to have David committing to directing all of them and that’s what I was begging for,” he said. “[The reboot is] something they’ve been toying with. And for David, 25 years was the magic number. There’s a reference in original, ‘I’ll see you in 25 years.'”

Lynch will direct all nine episodes for Showtime and it’s expected to premiere sometime in 2016.
