Alice, Sweet Alice remake casts Kathryn Morris to play mother

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Our last update on Dante Tomaselli’s remake of ALICE, SWEET ALICE came last October, when we brought you the film’s teaser poster (see that on the right). After a long wait, we finally have an update today on the casting front: Kathryn Morris, who had a nice long run on the CBS crime show “Cold Case,” has joined the remake to play mother to the nightmarish title character. She’ll also serve as a producer on the film.

The film focuses on Alice, a pouty, petulant problem child at that awkward age living with her precocious little sister Karen and single mom. When Karen is murdered during her first communion and Alice takes her place in line, suspicion immediately falls on her. Then a diminutive killer in a yellow slicker and opaque mask continues the reign of terror, and Alice’s estranged father takes up the investigation to prove her innocence.

Tomaselli had this to say about Morris’ casting:

Her character in Alice is modeled after the original Catherine Spages, played by Linda Miller. In keeping with the spirit of the original, Kathryn’s character will look and feel similar, strikingly beautiful, perfectly sculpted dark hair, fiercely protective of her children and plagued by deep Catholic guilt.”
