Alien: Covenant brings aboard Katherine Waterston

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It looks like we’ve found our new Ripley.

Ridley Scott’s ALIEN: COVENANT has made its first big casting coup – aside from Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace, that is. (Although the latter won’t be in it too much.) Deadline reports Katherine Waterston – recently seen in INHERENT VICE and STEVE JOBS – has been cast in the lead role of Daniels in the ALIEN sequel. Even though we know nothing about the character, it’s going to be tough to ward off comparisons to Sigourney Weaver’s iconic heroine.

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

We have a long wait until we lay eyes on COVENANT. The film comes out October 6th, 2017.
