Amber Heard is looking awfully ghastly in new poster for The Ward

06.13.2011by: Jake Dee

Fan-made art or legitimate one-sheet? You make the call...

In the meantime, let me ask: anyone get a chance to catch John Carpenter's THE WARD on VOD in the last week? If not, no sweat...the flick hits limited theaters July 8th, DVD and Blu-ray August 16th. Plenty of ways to see Carpenter's return to the genre after a ten year absence.

Featuring the likes of Amber Heard, Danielle Panabaker, Mika Boorem, Jared Harris, Mamie Gummer, Laura-Leigh, Sydney Sweeney, Sean Cooke, Milos Milicevic and Jillian Kramer - THE WARD revolves around:

Kristen, a beautiful but troubled young woman, who finds herself bruised, cut, drugged, and held against her will in a remote ward of a Psychiatric Hospital. She is completely disoriented, with no idea why she was brought to this place and no memory of her life before being admitted. All she knows is that she isn't safe.

The other patients in the ward, four equally disturbed young women, offer no answers, and Kristen quickly realizes things are not as they seem. The air is heavy with secrets, and at night, when the hospital is dark and foreboding, she hears strange and frightening sounds. It appears they are not alone.

One-by-one the other girls begin to disappear and Kristen must find a way out of this hellish place before she, too, becomes a victim. As she struggles to escape, she will uncover a truth far more dangerous and horrifying than anyone could have imagined.

Pre-order THE WARD on DVD HERE, Blu-ray HERE.

i wanted to like this.
but it was just so bland and boring.
idk maybe it would have been better if this was 1980.
that poster is the best thing to come from that movie.

I wish Carpenter would do something like Prince of Darkness and The Thing again.

Check into The Ward, eventually

Jake, you wonder whether anyone viewed The Ward on VOD. Just yesterday, I did. On MFC went this comment "John Carpenter's The Ward is a rental or a matinee. When it is bad, The Ward is cliche. When it is good, it is so because of admirable performances, Carpenter's direction, and a few suprises in the plot. So, basically, Carpenter and cast do a possibly weak movie well."

It's a good film, but pretty forgettable (but I believe that is because the film is so generic and derivative of other films), but the characters are likable and the acting is pretty great, with Amber Heard standing out. 7/10
