Amblin’s The Innocents remake gets director of Manson’s The Beautiful People

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Well, this should be interesting.

Okay let me get this out of the way right off the top, the movie we are here to discuss at the moment isn't technically a remake of the classic black & white ghost flick THE INNOCENTS.

That said, this is semantics because the upcoming Amblin movie is based on the same novella, THE TURNING OF THE SCREW by Henry James. This version, however, is (currently) titled THE TURNING.

The new take on the classic novella is written by Chad & Carey Hayes (THE CONJURING) and has just snagged director Floria Sigismondi to take the helm of the project.

Sigismondi is most well-known for directing music videos. Including the classic video for Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People" (see below). On top of that, she has directed the feature THE RUNAWAYS and 2 episodes of THE HANDMAIDEN'S TALE for Hulu and the season finale of AMERICAN GODS.

What do you think of THE TURNING thus far? Do you think I'm stretching it by referring to the upcoming film as a remake of THE INNOCENTS? Let us know below, or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

THE INNOCENTS (1961) synopsis:

A young governess for two children becomes convinced that the house and grounds are haunted.

THE TURNING is set to begin production in early 2018.
