I am sure most fans of the show ‘The Walking Dead’ had the chance to catch the Season 2 finale that aired on AMC last night. If you haven’t, step away from this article and look elsewhere because there in be SPOILERS!

Fans of the comic who watch the show might have recognised a familiar figure towards the last few minutes, and for those who haven’t read the comics, that figure that saved Andrea is Michonne. Her character has become an icon of the comics and a fan favourite (I absolutely love her), and the good news is she will be in Season 3!

AMC announced that the actress that won the role is Danai Gurira (right) from ‘Treme’ and I first noticed her in the fantastic film THE VISITOR. She is definitely a perfect fit for the role and I personally can’t wait to see it all unfold next season!

The basic announcement from AMC: AMC has cast actress Danai Gurira (Treme/The Visitor) in the coveted role of Michonne in its original series, “The Walking Dead.” Tonight’s season two finale first featured the iconic character who will reappear in season three of the AMC series. Michonne, a fan favorite from Robert Kirkman’s comic book series, is a mysterious woman armed with a sword.

The show will return in the Fall, in what I can only predict will be one heck of an amazing third season! Bring it!

Extra Tidbit: Without posting spoilers, what did you think of the season finale?

I loved it. My only complaint is that the first half was so strong and filled with action, thrills, and blood galore. It was awesome, however the beginning was so awesome that it slowed down the rest of the episode. I felt a little underwhelmed by it all. However the intro to Michonne got me more than pumped, that was the kick ass introduction she deserved and I was not expecting it. And then the last shot of the prison got me pumped. Bring on Season 3!

I love it! Season 1 ended with a bang. Half-Season & Season finale of Season 2 both ended with a bang. I'm not familiar with the original comic book but I'm getting afraid of what Rick is becoming. This should make an interesting Season 3. Keep it coming!
