Two years after Paramount acquired the rights to distribute PRISONERS director Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi thriller ARRIVAL (formerly known as STORY OF YOUR LIFE) and a year after the project went into production, the studio has announced a release date for the film: November 11th.

As various sources are noting, that is an awards season date, so Paramount must be very pleased with how things turned out (a good thing, since they paid $20 million for those distribution rights).

Scripted by horror regular Eric Heisserer (THE THING premake, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake, FINAL DESTINATION 5) from a short story by Ted Chiang, ARRIVAL

takes place after alien crafts land around the world. An expert linguist is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat. As she learns to communicate with the aliens, she begins experiencing vivid flashbacks that become the key to unlocking the greater mystery about the true purpose of their visit.

Amy Adams plays the linguist, with her co-stars including Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Jeremy Renner as a physics professor who helps her communicate with the aliens.

The film was produced by Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, David Linde, Karen Lunder, and Aaron Ryder.
