The fact that clowns can be scary is something that people in every country can agree on, as demonstrated by the teaser trailer for director Awi Suryadi's Indonesian horror film BADOET.

Written by Suryadi, Agasyah Karim, and Khalid Kashogi, BADOET tells the following the story:

After three children are found tragically dead, a band of college students are forced to conduct an investigation. And that is when terror from a mysterious clown figure starts to mount. Our heroes soon realize that what they are facing is a force that disguises its darkness through laughter — a force so menacing, it will not hesitate to take lives to get what it wants: immortality.

Daniel Topan (who also served as producer), Christoffer Nelwan, Aurélie Moeremans, Ratu Felisha, Marcel Chandrawinata, Ronny Paulus Tjandra, and Tiara Westlake star.

There is no dialogue in the teaser, only sound effects, music, and a montage of imagery that makes the film look like a creepy good time. BADOET is set to open in Indonesia in October, but hopefully audiences in the rest of the world won't have to wait much longer to see it.
