Chloë Sevigny, Anjelica Huston, and Johnny Galecki will star in Bron Studios and Gilbert Films’ THE MASTER CLEANSE, a potent brew of dark humour and David Cronenberg-style body-horror, according to Screen Daily. Bobby Miller, whose appropriately bizarre short film TUB screened in Sundance 2010, will make his feature directorial debut.
XYZ Films is shopping international rights and is showing a pre-visualisation of the fantasy horror in Cannes, while WME Global arranged financing and represents North America.
The Master Cleanse centres on a heartbroken man who attends a spiritual retreat, only to discover that the course releases more than everyday toxins and traumatic experiences.
Shooting begins this July. MastersFX (who created effects for ELYSIUM and ROBOCOP) is said to be on board to "conjure creatures and effects for the production."
Jordan Horowitz produces for LA-based Gilbert Films, alongside Aaron L Gilbert for Vancouver-based Bron Studios.
