Well it sure is going to be tough to top this news today!
The producers of such instant classics as SHARKTOPUS and DINOSHARK have formed a new production company called Monster Machine; said company's focus will be to create low-budget creature features in the vein of the two titles mentioned above. Roger Corman and the folks at The Asylum had better watch their backs...
Per Variety: Founder Stephen Niver and Robert James Roessel of Mexico-based banner Arte Paneo Prods. are working with genre scribes Matthew Chernov and David Rosiak (SHARK SWARM) to develop and produce a slate of creature-themed projects for video, cable and VOD.
Company plans to shoot several of the features in and around Puerto Vallarta, where "Sharktopus" and "Dinoshark" were shot economically, due in part to Roessel being the film commissioner in Jalisco, Mexico.
Some titles we can expect: ARACHNACONDA, GRIZZLIGATOR, SEA SCORPIONS, MANEATER MOUNTAIN... No, this is not some insane fever dream you're having, this is really happening in the world as we know it.
ARACHNACONDA is the first film on Monster Machine's slate; it's set to star Lou Diamond Phillips, Maria Conchita Alonso and Brett Wagner. And get this: Lou Diamond Phillips is also directing!
Is there any doubt that Monster Machine is going to be the gift that keeps on giving for years to come?
