Awesome clip and trailer for Russian disaster pic Metro

12.28.2012by: Eric Walkuski

Holy hell this looks great.

I've not heard of METRO before today, but based on the below clip and trailer, I can't wait to hear more about it. It's comes from Russian director Anton Megerdichev (DARK WORLD) and it looks like a terrifying take on the disaster genre. The flick just came out in Russia and there's no indication that it will be released in North America anytime soon, but while we wait we can enjoy a very long, dramatic clip displaying Megerdichev's technical prowess.

The story begins in 1975 during the construction of Moscow's subway lines; between two stations are almost imperceptible cracks that result in the leakage of water of the Moskva River a few decades later, causing a landslide. Hundreds of train passengers remain at the mercy of an impending flood. But the flow of water endangers not only the collapse of underground tunnels, but the destruction of the city that is on them.

While the recent trailer for AFTERSHOCK presents a film that turns a disaster area into the setting for horror thrills (and there's nothing wrong with that), METRO appears to present a more serious - but no less scary - look at the perils of surviving a cataclysm. Really can't wait to get a look at this one in full.
