E.L. Katz's directorial debut CHEAP THRILLS is a heavy dose of pure entertainment and it’s making its way onto Blu-ray and DVD on May 27th! That’s just around the corner, folks, so be sure to pre-order your very own copy of the flick right HERE. Read on for all the goods.

Drafthouse Films announces the Blu-ray and DVD release of the "mind-blowing" (Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times) thriller Cheap Thrills on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Cheap Thrills wowed audiences and critics alike during its theatrical & VOD release with a crazy cocktail of violence, laughs and sheer audaciousness. The Blu-ray/DVD will feature a documentary on the making of the film and commentary with director E.L. Katz and star Pat Healy. Cheap Thrills will be distributed on home video by Drafthouse Films, at an SRP of $24.95 for Blu-ray and $19.95 for DVD. It will be available for purchase at retail locations nationwide, including Redbox and Walmart.

CHEAP THRILLS stars Pat Healy, Ethan Embry, Sara Paxton and David Koechner. It goes like this:

Cheap Thrills follows Craig (Pat Healy), a struggling family man who loses his low-wage job and is threatened with eviction. In an effort to delay facing the music at home, he heads to a local bar and encounters an old friend (Ethan Embry). The two friends are roped into a round of drinks by a charismatic and obscenely wealthy stranger (David Koechner) along with his mysterious wife (Sara Paxton). The couple engages the two friends in a series of innocent dares in exchange for money over the course of the evening, with each challenge upping the ante in both reward and boundaries. It seems like easy and much needed money, but the couple’s twisted sense of humor pushes just how far Craig and his friend are willing to go for money and cheap thrills.

The 45-minute documentary chronicles the insanely tight 14-day shooting schedule for the "black comic masterpiece" (Drew McWeeny, HitFix) with a fly-on-the-wall perspective of the pressures and rewards of making a first feature on an impossibly short schedule.

Bonus Features:

  • 45-Min Making-Of Documentary
  • Cheap Thrills at Fantastic Fest 2013

See It

Cheap Thrills is the best genre offering so far of 2014. AITH readers need to see it if they haven't yet. The movie resembles last year's Would You Rather a bit. However, Cheap Thrills might even surpass that Jeffrey Combs vehicle (no shit). Just look at the Cheap Thrills cast. You have the dude from Thank You for Smoking, the dude from Compliance and The Innkeepers, and Sara Paxton and some other dude who does a good job like the other three (I am not visiting imdb right now. I want to eat
