Blumhouse Halloween rated R for horror violence, bloody images, & nudity

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Well, it's official. A few weeks back we let you guys know that Blumhouse executive Ryan Turek had assured a fan over on Twitter that Danny McBride and David Gordon Green's HALLOWEEN would be rated R. And today we have confirmation via the MPAA that this is (thank God) the case.

The film has been officially rated R via the MPAA for "horror violence and bloody images, language, brief drug use and nudity."

I don't know about you but I'm glad to know that this is set in stone (for now). I know it was a way out of left field worry of mine that Blumhouse may go the PG-13 route with this movie (ala TRUTH OR DARE and HAPPY DEATH DAY) but rejoice as the supreme horror movie production company seems to have their horror hearts in the right place.

Blumhouse's HALLOWEEN will see the return of Jamie Lee Curtis to the role of

Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Also in the cast are Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen; Andi Matichak as Karen's daughter Allyson; Miles Robbins, Virginia Gardner, Dylan Arnold, and Drew Scheid as Allyson's Haddonfield High classmates; Will Patton and Rob Niter as police officers; Rhian Rees as a character named Dana; and Diva Tyler as a caretaker, with stuntman James Jude Courtney and original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle both wearing the mask of the iconic slasher.

John Carpenter served as an executive producer on the film and is composing the score. The new HALLOWEEN arrives in theatres on October 19th.
