Pacific Rim: Uprising John Boyega

Director Steven S. DeKnight's PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING, the sequel to Guillermo del Toro's 2013 kaiju vs. mecha movie PACIFIC RIM, is one of those productions that's shrouded in so much secrecy that we have to grasp on to any little thing that actually leaks out, like shots of star John Boyega on set – whether dressed in casual clothes or running around in a Jaeger pilot suit. We don't know the film's plot, and when the rumor hit that Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, and Karl Urban might be in the cast (three of them were in the first movie), the producers didn't even offer an official confirmation or denial. Their efforts to leave us in the dark are very effective.

Recently, a few more images related to the film have appeared online. One is a spy pic of Boyega's co-star Scott Eastwood, wearing a Jaeger pilot suit and some blood splatter.

From the pages of License! Global comes an artist's rendering of three of the new Jaeger machines we'll be seeing in the film.

And finally, we have an official image from the movie that was shared by Boyega himself on his Twitter account. He says his character's name is Pentecost, confirming previous reports that he is playing the son of Idris Elba's character from the del Toro film.

These images don't offer much to go on, but they're all we've got at this time.

In addition to Boyega and Eastwood, PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING stars – we know for sure – Cailee Spaerny, Jing Tian, Levi Meaden, Adria Arjona, Ivanna Sahkno, Rahart Adams, Shyrley Rodriguez, Zhang Jin, Wesley Wong, Lily Ji, Chen Zitong, Lan Yingying, Qian Yongchen, Xiao Yang, and Kim Jeong-Hoon. It's set to reach theatres on February 23, 2018.
