Brad Dourif talks Child’s Play TV series!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I don't think there is an abundance of horror flicks and/or franchises that would make an utterly smooth transition from the big screen to our smaller TV screens. That said, for some reason, I think Don Mancini's killer doll franchise CHILD'S PLAY was always meant for the small screen. After all, Mancini's stories have been getting bigger and bigger, with each new sequel introducing us to new main characters that we love time and time again, and ninety minutes is just not enough time to tell the full tales any longer. I mean as much as I loved CULT OF CHUCKY, where was Glen/Glenda? A sacrifice of time, I think.

And it is with this in mind, I was over the bad moon excited when we learned back in February that Mancini and franchise producer David Kirschner were looking to transplant Charles Lee Ray and co. to the small screen.

Don Mancini:

We plan to use Child’s Play in the title. We want to definitely signal that we are going dark, darker than ever before. It’s going to be very creepy.

Kirschner added that "it won’t be a reboot and will be a continuation story" and Mancini said the series was “deliberately set up at end of the last movie,” then added the “tone is dark and disturbing” before confirming Brad Dourif will return as the voice of Chucky.

As excited as all of us are, what does Mr. Brad Dourif think of the (potential) TV series himself? Well, the voice of Chucky recently sat down with DoG and talked a (little) bit about just that.

Brad Dourif:

I haven't spoken to Don (Mancini). My daughter is very close to him, they speak almost every day. She assures me that the TV series, at least, is something that there's a lot of interest in. I don't know if that's going to happen or not, but it certainly could.

So not only did Douriff just confirm the series is in the works, but it seems like he would be more than up for returning to the role should the series hit the air. Bring it on, I say! That's all we know about the potential series thus far but make no mistake we will keep you guys up-to-date on any and all news we hear regarding the show. Stay tuned!
