Brian de Palma to helm the black comedy The Truth and Other Lies

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Brian De Palma's back! The director of CARRIE and DRESSED TO KILL (among many other films that you've either already seen or desperately need to watch right away), De Palma hasn't helmed a project since 2012's PASSION. That's all about to change, because he has just signed on to helm THE TRUTH AND OTHER LIES, based on the 2015 black comedy novel by Sascha Arango.

The plot centers on:

Henry Hayden, whose facade of being a virtuous, loving husband is in danger of falling apart when his mistress becomes pregnant. He tries to get rid of her but makes a terrible mistake in the process. In order to keep the past from catching up with him, Henry must manage a growing series of lies and complications.

This seems like the perfect plot for 75-year-old director's idiosyncratic brand of thriller filmmaking. And if there's anything we've learned from MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, it's that not all septuagenarian directors lose their spark, so I must say I'm looking forward to this one.

THE TRUTH AND OTHER LIES is produced by Paula Mae Schwartz, Nick Wechsler, and Roger Schwartz. If you want to pick up a copy of the book to catch up, go no further than RIGHT HERE.
